Its purely dictatorship.
You buy some amount of potato, you have to buy brinjals along with them. You purchase a T shirt, you have to buy a pair of shorts with them. You ask for a cigar, and it says that it’ll light with a zippo only!
Would anybody accept such kind of dictatorship? No, right? Dont we have the small amount of freedom to get the things of our own choice?
Then why is it so when you get a brand new Intel motherboard with ultracool features, and want to run your own choice of OS over it, then you suddenly discover that it was meant for windows Vista ! (Vista came earlier than the mobo). I am interested in a laptop. When I say laptop, I mean laptop. nothing more than that. Then why should I pay for an OS ? (lets say I chose to write my own OS myself). Moreover, people just buy a laptop, (paying for the preloaded vista as well) and back home they end up formatting the machine and installing pirated XP on it. Clearly the customer himself isnt interested in that OS, still he is paying for it! Now if I say I am interested in a laptop and an OS on it will be fine. Now when I say laptop+OS, I mean laptop+OS. Why should I now pay for a browser along with it ( if i need a browser I’ll definitely buy it or use any freely available one, but why should I be forced to buy one? ).
The only thing I could infer from all these is, the product manufacterers are themselves quite confident that noone is going to buy their product on their own choice (because they know that their product quality os crap) and so, the only way to make their presence in the market is to force the poor consumers to buy their stuff.
Isnt this a kind of dictatorship? As the freedom from the people being snatched away ?

I know. Can’t we start some campaign against this. I mean, in Europe and US, DELL is forced to give out the customer choice between OS/No OS. Why can’t it be forced in India.
I thought u DID buy ur laptop without an OS.
Eitherway, its the company’s choice to sell their laptop the way they deem appropriate. Eg: I will sell u my pair of shoes only if u buy my shorts too.. If u like the deal take it if u dont leave it..
Also, a more appropriate analogy would be .. With the shoe you get the lace NO option there..
yeah, i bought it, but how many brands or models really give this freedom to the customers? Moreover, that model is no more in the market.
And yes, its definitely the company’s choice. From the business perspective this is absolutely rational. But, i believe, at least in some scenarios, where providing little choices to the customers is ‘possible’, should be taken care of rather forcing the customers to buy stuff, ( knowing that anyway the poor customer needs it, so whatever I put the condition they’ll come to purchase it ).
Anyways, the point is its business, and you look for the profit.
peace.
